JCS Firearm Inventory System
Posted by: JCJordan on Sunday, May 29, 2011 (15:46:11) (17 Reads)
We have started work on an inventory system for FFL holders that will meet the requirements of the ATF. This will be an electronic version of the ATF bound book. Currently, We have most of the program set up and it is meeting the ATF requirements.
JCS Firearm Inventory System or JCS-FIS for short has several features to make it easy for gun dealers and collectors alike to electronically keep inventory records.
JCS-FIS currently has separate screens for the receipt of a firearm or for the disposition of it. We also have added a location field (on its own screen) for those companies that have offsite storage of some firearms.
There is a complete audit trail as per the ATF requirements. Records can be edited, but not deleted. The audit trail keeps track of all changes to the receipt and disposition of a firearm. The only field that is not tracked is location. An audit record for a new entry looks like this:
While an edited record looks like this:
The audit trail keeps track of when the id was added/edited, who made the modifications, which page was used, what was done (add, edit), the unique id, all fields that were added or edited.
We have added dropdown menus for several fields, such as manufacturer, caliber, type, and the name & ffl number for receipt. The name and FFL number fields are links, so if you select "John Thomas" for the name of the seller to you, it will select his FFL number.
In JCS-FIS there is a search for any part of an entry. So when a inventory tag gets ripped off, do a quick search the serial number, and it will bring up all guns with that serial number.
We have a demo of the program set up @ http://www.jordancomputersolutions.com/JCS-FIS/ You may login in using username: demo password: demo1234.
Feel free to try out all parts of the site. If you have a feature request or find a problem please submit them from the demo site.
